External Maps

Per-pay-schedule (and global) mappings from an external payroll/benefits system's field names to DSPTCH compensation elements — how DSPTCH standardizes what imported pay data means.

A paystub line item records which mapping classified it: its external_map_id holds the map's bitemporal_id. External Maps are bitemporal — see "Temporal resources" in the API overview for the versioning contract. Read-only: maps are authored in the web app.
